Virtual Azerbaijan (tricolor banner)

Welcome to Virtual Azerbaijan Republic (VAR), Zerbaijan.com, one of the oldest and respected web-sources on Azerbaijan, since 1995. We have a lot of original content, for which we have been linked back by such well-known sites as WashingtonPost.com, CNN.com, Soros, TRACECA, IREX, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Maryland, University Of Kansas, John Hopkins University-SAIS, Embassies of Azerbaijan, President's website, Human Rights Center of Azerbaijan and others, known mostly on the Internet. The design is kept more or less simple to allow faster download and navigation. Soon, we will debut a new design for the site. Please feel free to suggest and update links, and other materials.

VAR has turned black for a period of one week to commemorate the January 20, 1990 massacre, commonly known as the "Black January". Read more by visiting VAR's Black January site.

"The actions taken by the government of Armenia in the context of the conflict over Nagorno - Karabakh are inconsistent with the territorial integrity and national sovereignty principles of the Helsinki Final Act. Armenia supports Nagorno - Karabakh separatists in Azerbaijan both militarily and financially. Nagorno - Karabakh forces, assisted by units of the Armenian armed forces, currently occupy the Nagorno - Karabakh region and surrounding areas in Azerbaijan. This violation and the restoration of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been taken up by the OSCE."

William J. Clinton
Then President of the United States of America

To help you quicker understand what is going on, the editor of VAR website decided to offer the following map as a supplement to all the oil-related materials on this page.
